MXDU Day 0

MXDU hasn’t even officially started and already I’m exhausted… here’s some highlights from the National Macromedia User Group Meeting:

  1. Waking up at 4am to make my 6am (4 hour) flight to Sydney. Technically actually it was about 3:50am as my alarm clock is set fast. Or was that a lowlight?
  2. The kebab I had for lunch, from the Turkish shop on the corner of Murray St and Pyrmont St, Darling Harbour… mmm…
  3. Russ Weakley, Max Design: “Practical benefits of web standards for your visitors, your clients and you”. This is my favourite topic of late, and as I’ve been lurking on the Web Standards Group mailing list for a few weeks now it was nice to put a name to a face. Russ reckons that there’s a few Perth people on the list now, maybe even enough to have real meetings, which would be cool.
  4. Sean Corfield, Director of Architecture in IT at Macromedia: “Accessible and Compliant - a brief look at accessibility and web standards compliance at macromedia.com”. An interesting topic, and reassuring to know that even the big guys aren’t perfect although they are trying. Again, it was nice to meet Sean in person finally.
  5. Panel: Question time. Russ, Sean, Mike Chambers and Tim Buntel being asked the awkward questions. And I won a(nother) macromedia t-shirt for hassling Tim about how Flex will fit into the sub-enterprise-level organisation (apparently it might), cool.
  6. The MXDU conference bags are WICKED! I’ll post a photo tomorrow when I’m not so knackered.

Day 1, bring it on!
