ColdFusion Report Builder Angst

From comments left recently on my Report Builder posts, it seems there is still a lot of frustration with ColdFusion Reporting generally.

I haven’t had a lot of time to play with it recently, but from what I’ve seen, the new 7.0.2 release and the Report Builder update that was released shortly afterwards really do make a lot of difference. So to anyone still experiencing problems, I would recommend that you make sure you are running the very latest versions of everything.

After that, if you still experience bugs, you need to report them to Adobe. They’ve been very responsive to my issues, so there’s no reason why they won’t be responsive to yours.

Hi Peter, It’s not actually a Java app – it’s a Delphi application, which is why it’s Windows only. It’s not a reflection of Delphi however, because many great and stable applications are written in Delphi.

Kay, it is not even Macromedia/Adobe tech – mostly plugged in to the MX server. They are acquiring code from others. Adobe now need to post at least “build” numbers before downloading the same code (Report Builder) to get the same buggy Java app.

Where did they get it from? Well, with Adobe swallowing MM up, the CF team should be able to build a decent reporting engine from the groups up. It is worth it.

They write it in house… but I think there’s only one developer on it.
