Update on the cool HD-DVD t-shirts

Yesterday I posted about how a mate of mine was taking pre-orders for t-shirts with the HD-DVD decryption code rendered in hexadecimal colours. Super-geeky. I hear from Myles that the shirts are being printed and orders are now being taken on the site – AUD $30 (unless you pre-ordered, in which case you get it for AUD $25). That’s a touch less than US $25 – a bargain. I’ve ordered mine.

I read on Download Squad that there are cheaper Cafe Press shirts available – but:

Cafe Press shirts are not great quality and
they’re all white! I only wear black t-shirts!

Missing in action: code mojo

The past few days have been very frustrating. The symptoms:

my house is spotless, all laundry is done
inboxes – both physical and virtual – are cleared
tasks for the next three months are neatly scheduled
feed reader is cleared of unread and flagged items
physical and virtual desktops are clean and organised

But no matter what I do, I can’t seem to concentrate on code for long enough to actually do anything. Things that should be easy are not. Things I thought were obvious seem fraught with difficulty. Complication lurks in every conditional.

This has happened before. I don’t think my zen-like state of Getting Things Done is the cause of my lack of code focus – I think it’s a symptom. In the absence of any real work, I’m seeking refuge in structured procrastination.

I’m sure I’m not the only one that experiences this. So, what do you do when your coding brain goes on holiday? How to do you get your code mojo back?

… And a Happy New Year to all my CF buddies!

Lots has been happening lately. Not least of all the launch of Clever Icons, our new stock icon web site. To celebrate the launch and the season, we’ve released a set of free Christmas icons so if you need a bit of extra holiday cheer somewhere, it’s not too late! If you need icons for your admin areas or RIAs, we’ve also released the free ‘Foundation’ icons set, which contains all the basic objects that most projects need. Download away! Commercial sets will be coming in the new year.

Also in the new year: more reporting stuff from me. Have a good one, everyone, and I’ll see you “on the other side”!

Go the Starfish

I’ve been a bit busy lately, and also I’ve been keeping a secret. But now it’s out – Dave and I have started our own venture, Clever Starfish.

Dave’s a Delphi programmer and also a software interface specialist, so he will be consulting in areas of usability and GUI design as well as working on some of our own software projects. I’ll be focusing on search engine optimisation and online marketing, although of course I am always available for general web development and ColdFusion projects. In fact, I’m currently working on a pretty big Fusebox 4 project.

I’d love to get any feedback about our new site, so go on – I can take it! Fortunately I was not involved in the design for this one – the credit for that goes to Anton Ball, the Little Tree. The html and content is, however, largely my doing.

So whaddaya reckon?
